I didn't get to talk to people as much as I normally like to on these days because I had some urgent rental property work to sort out. However I still enjoyed getting out and seeing people; hopefully the other ten or so people attending also had …
Lots and lots of time today on pre-sales consultancy proposals (and a call) - 6 hours. The call was scheduled at 1.5 hours, a further 1 hour was planned for preparing a quote, but the remaining 3.5 hours was unexpected proposal work that couldn't be delayed. That meant other very urgent rental property work got pushed …
Far too much packed in! Oldest two children performing in two theatre shows and Liz chaperoning at one too.
The show we watched was great though (apparently the earlier one was almost as good too) and the children enjoyed performing. Auditions next week for another, larger theatre production!
About 3 hours logged to "email processing", including nearly 2.5 hours as a solid block of time at the start of my work day! I definitely need to get more detailed …
Up early and out sightly late, yes child and medicine related delays again. Got to London Olympia (a fantastically simple and all overground journey) only fifteen minutes after the landlord investment show networking event started.
Good hot chocolate. :-)
Early morning networking - had a few conversations, one really interesting, probably not business advancing …
Yet another late (for work) start due to extra childcare and household drain issues (I really dislike climbing through foliage to check the outside drain).
Booked the car's MOT and ticked off a few rental property tasks, including booking an electrician visit.
A doctors visit, following up on my ear operation …
Listening to one of the podcasts I follow this weekend and found a very interesting episode about the (continuing) expansion of co-working.
In other exciting news, Starling Bank have started offering sole trader accounts. But I also had it confirmed from their customer support that if you open a business account first you then …
Networking breakfast - late thanks to my first bad experience with Uber. The driver couldn't get his app to recognise the pick-up (despite mine showing it had). He tried taking me back home thinking it might be geo-fenced but that didn't help. In the end he used Google Maps to navigate and took me to Reigate. Thankfully …
Today started with attending a school assembly. It was really good and even included a song from The Greatest Showman! A side benefit - I was quite pleased to see others there checking and replying to emails while I didn't need to. (I'd checked my email in the queue outside, nothing to respond to; and then …
ASD had a bytes vs str (Python) issue after base64 decoding an authorisation header. Easily fixed with a decode('utf-8') but setting a suitable header in the Django test client isn't directly covered in the docs so here's what I did:
So much time taken trying to catch up on so much assorted stuff that I didn't deal with last week! Covering PaTMa emails, minor consultancy bug fixes, ASD support and some server adjustments. (~2.5 hours)
I wrote and sent out the latest Redhill Micropreneurs email (1 hour), covering the next micropreneurs social and an interesting ad-hoc event …
While not managing to get nearly as much winding-down-from-holiday rest as I would have liked, we played a new family board game; this time Dragonology. It took us a while to get up to speed with the rules but once we were going it seemed to work well and we really enjoyed it. We did …
Supposedly not too much work to do today/tonight. Seems to have taken nearly two hours still though. Mostly catching up on emails and fixing a couple of urgent consultancy customer issues.
Decided not to publish my next journal tonight; prioritising a few extra minutes of sleep instead.
